Bills CB McKelvin’s front lawn vandalized

Don't Fumble the Ball then.

  1. McKelvin said following practice "I was mad, I was kind of like angry in a way, but I was laughing a little bit for what they put on there."

  2. I can't believe local sports talk radio and everyone else in the sports nation feel as if McKelvin should have stayed in the endzone...None of these people were on the field and were not able to see the field of vision McKelvin had...If he broke that tackle that game is over and he goes to the house...With 2:06 left taking a knee gives the patriots 4 time outs...Bills go 3 and out there it gives Brady roughly 1:45 and a timeout to charge down the field and score...Man wanted to put the game away too bad he fumbled...He'll win the Bills more games than he loses, leave the man alone...Would love to see those people who vandalized his lawn return a kickoff against the Pats, McKelvin was getting rocked the entire night...Bobby April shit the bed that game, get this man some blocking so he doesn't get pounded every time he returns the ball...He wasn't the reason we lost either...Pats ran the same play and scored again, defense can be at fault for that too...Keith Ellison on Ben Watson??..come on now

  3. This is my first post because I didn’t want to look like I was rubbing it in after a heart breaker. McKelvin and the bills coaching staff are idiots. Football is a game of detail, situation, and matchups. I will lay it out and tell everyone why he should have taken a knee, and what the bills coaches failed to relay to McKelvin.
The coaches should have told McKelvin. If the ball is kicked into the end zone take a knee. The Pats have three timeouts with 2:08 seconds remaining; including the 2 minute warning that is four times the clock will stop. What does this mean you ask? It means you have to get a first down either way to end the game, with 3 or more clock stoppages a first down is required. If they get a first down that last timeout is meaningless and they can run the clock out.
These details either escaped McKelvin or the Coaching staff or both, but they have to have a better handle of the situation in the game than that, and that is why everyone is saying he should not have run the ball out. It is not what Mckelvin saw on the field its being coached properly that everyone is really talking about.

  4. I disagree PC. You're right in the sense that if they pick up the first down the game is over, but the strategy lies in what happens if they don't pick up a first down. The Pats D has really started to pick it up when the Bills got conservative and I really would guess that the Pats would have stopped Fred Jackson from gaining a first down in the obvious running situation there. If so, by giving them the two-minute warning you are giving Tom Brady the ball back with a good amount of time on the clock and a timeout - which opens the entire field up. The only plays the Pats made which gained over 15 yards seemed to be in the middle of the field btw.

The coaching problem comes in possibly no one telling McKelvin to make sure above all else that he doesn't fumble. Run straight, try and stay on your feet long enough to get to the two-minute warning and above all else, hold onto that football.

Thank you Bell for letting me know you didn't read my piece by repeating the exact same thing I said. Good point on the same play to Ben Watson. Maybe the Bills just figured old physical freak stone hands Watson would drop one of them?

And I know it was an isolated person or group, but does anything prove my point about Bills fans being too obsessed with beating the Pats in a Bo Sox wanting to beat the Yanks sense. It almost reminds me of Ace Ventura with the Ray Finkle like loathing.

  5. This is the classic loser conundrum you guys are in. You are basically saying that the coaches should have played/assumed that the offense was going to give the ball back to the patriots and thus they had to at least get to the two minute warning to take as much time and all timeouts away. This is a classic case of playing not to lose rather than playing to win the game.
You have to look at it this way especially in hindsight. There are two things that can happen on a kickoff and only one can guarantee that your team does not turn it over and that is kneeling/touchback. The other is a return that in most cases ends with your team having the ball 1st and ten but there is still a good chance for fumble (probably a higher percentage due to speed than any other play) that you turn the ball over. You and strugglesworth are both basically saying that if you had just taken a knee you would have given the ball back immediately. Your offense had moved the ball all night and all you needed was a first down and you assume that you would not make it, thus playing not to lose. I know you can say what you want about bills history but you have to be in the game and every situational detail counts. The fact was the bills were in the game and should have taken the touchback and given their offense not their defense the opportunity to win the game. Play to win fellas

  6. Whats so hard about running around for 6 seconds and then just falling down? Thats probably what they wanted to do, but the dumbass tried to fight for an extra yard instead of just falling down. Its not playing with a losing mentality. Its just thinking over every possible scenario and then calling a play accordingly. All you have to do is run around for 6 seconds and fall down. it probably wouldve worked, and they probably wouldve won is they did that.

  7. That scenario would have work too, but this proves my overall point that they either didnt think of this or McKelvin did whatever the hell he wanted, either way poor decision making. If this was the general idea then take the ball out and run around like an idiot for 8 seconds but somehow I dont think skeletor even thought to say anything to the second year player about exactly what to do. If he had i dont think he would have run right into the pile. he would have run to the sideline revesed course and got tackeled coming back around probably around the legs, bills ball one first down and done.

  8. I would say its piss poor coaching not to tell the guy to run 6 seconds off and fall down. But its also a dumb ass player for not having the smarts to know the situation. Dont be a hero there, you already have a good chance at winning the game. Just fall down. I just had an issue with you calling it a losing mentality. I dont think its ever a losing mentality to consider every single possible scenario in a situtaion. You can still be positive and think of the bad things that could happen on this next play. If you dont then you dont practice or plan for when things go bad or wrong. Things never go right all the time. You have to think about how certain situations could go wrong. Thats not having a losing mentality. Thats being prepared.

  9. Right I was commenting on how everyone saying that that they had to get to the two minute warning because they were obviously not going to get the first down and the patriots would have had a timeout and 1:30 left to score again. I just think it was the wrong call to run it out by whoever made the call player or coach. The two minute warning was not a big deal if you were playing under the assumtion that you would get the first down (winning the game) however the bills decided to run it out to get the two mintue warning becasue they assumed that they would give it up 3 and out (losing mentality). You can plan for the bad things all you want but they didnt know it would turn out bad they assumed it would turn out that way without even allowing their offense on the field. Make the Pats D prove it. All in all it was a crazy game I just wish i could listen to BUffalo talk radio rather than hear about how redskins arestill going to win the superbowl on the ride home. kill me now!

  10. While I understand your point PC, I think "Let's kneel the ball wouldn't want to risk fumbling the kickoff" is playing not to lose as much, if not more, than kneeling it and trying to pick up a first down. You get a decent run-back there and eclipse the 2-minute warning you essentially just won, you didn't "not lose." Taking the knee is doing exactly that - "not losing."

And for the record I am not a Bills fan. That should be fairly obvious I thought, but in case I have not made myself clear, I really can't stand the Bills and am a Giants fan.

  11. Still brewing on the inside over this. Bottom line is taking a knee or not taking a knee makes no difference. I agree with taking the ball out. It is a smart move to get rid of the extra time out courtesy of the two minute warning. If you aren't confident that your return man can't take it out without coughing the ball up he shouldn't be back there.

McKelvins only mistake was fighting for yardage in my opinion
