MLB Playoffs Kickoff with a Bang

Wow. What a great play-in game. If that doesn't fire you up to watch some MLB playoffs then forget about baseball, it's not in your blood.

I was going to write "Congrats to the Twins" and then that reminded me... Why do bloggers always do that? "Congratulations to Team X." As if the team is reading what they write. You even see it in away messages and facebook status updates, which is even worse. Joe Mauer didn't dash home to check out if the Millman or the Mulldog sent a courtesy "congrats" on The Pewch Revolution. And Rod Gardenhire isn't logging onto his facebook to see if Reginald McPewchster updated his status to congratulate his ball-club.

No, instead I'm going to do what we're supposed to do. State facts. And facts is: The Twinkies are boarding a red-eye to New York right now after playing an Odyssey-esque epic play-in game that had everything you could ask for from go-ahead homers, game-tying homers, plays at the plate, closers being stretched to the max and a walk-off hit. Tomorrow, they will head uptown to the Bronx in the morning to play a 6:00 p.m. beisbol game with the heavily favored Yankees and CC Sabathia. Unfortunately for them, they no longer have the guy front and center in the picture above and I believe they are throwing poor Nick Blackburn. They are probably going to get swept away in game one and in the series as well. But never forget, in what should be a great Fall Classic - that the Twins and Tigers put on a show that reminded many of us why we sit through the long and tedious 162 game season...for right now.

  1. It was a great game my roommate is a Tigers fan and was up and down, and drunk the whole game. I wish the tigers had won becasue i believe they could have streched the yankees to atleast 4 games and maybe forced CC to start twice before the second series but it doesnt look good. Go Sox

  2. Really was a great game. I actually like the Tigers, and completely agree they are the only team of the two likely to give the Yankees a chance at trouble, but I couldn't help but root Twinkies. Rochester Red Wings Parent club(unless they changed again). Gonna be rooting hard for the Twins, but they just don't have the arms or bats to match. Then again...last season in the Metrodome...anything can happen.

  3. Gardenhire is a magician to get this squad into the playoffs. The team had a .237 team batting avg(with mauer hittin over .350) and below avg team ERA. Yankees will sleep walk thru this one.
