Heeeees Baaaaackkk

Las Vegas Locomotives opened up the first ever game in UFL history with a convincing 30-17 victory over the California RedWoods.
Total fans in attendance at Sam Boyd Stadium (home of the UNLV Running Rebels) was just over 14,000. Not entirely shabby I must say.

As for the real story, and the significance to the Pewch Revolution, J.P Losman has started his comeback bid to the NFL in great fashion. 21-31, 226 passing yards, 2 tds...LEGIT.

Not much else to say really except Losman and Fassel have to be the favorites to take the UFL Championship this year. Fassel was quoted as saying, “Our defense stepped up to the plate big time...“The things that we didn’t do well at the end of the day we can coach. It was a good football game. It wasn’t sloppy. It was hard hitting. It was what people want to see.”

It must be hard for Fassel to give press quotes and not think in his head "what has my life come to."

Dennis Green, Coach of the Redwoods, continues his losing ways and drops to 0-1, though most could see this loss coming, after all...

The Locomotives are who we thought they were...if you want to crown em, crown em!

  1. Seriously? 14,000 for the first game? That should put the 3rd game at about 1,000 people and the league extinct before the season is even over. Dont bother covering this garbage. JP Loseman is better off going to Canada. At least that league will operate continuosly.

  2. 14,000 people, for a first ever game, that is just minor leagues, with only 4 teams in it isn't terrible. This isn't the XFL where they are creating new rules to try to ocmpete with the NFL, they are just trying to brand themselves as a legit minor league option for players on the cusp of the NFL.

Baseball has Triple A to the MLB
Basketball has the D League to the NBA
Soccer has the A-League(?) to the MLS
Hockey has the AHL to the NHL

NFL had nothing to develop players of there own.
    Its worth a shot.

  3. I can see both sides. I do think there is room for a minor league or probably more appropriately Developmental League for football. Especially when you consider how many teams get ravished by injury in the NFL. Would be great to have some players that aren't simply on the practice squad and have been playing in games to pick up in case of emergency. I think the big difference is that, to my knowledge this league has no ties to the NFL? Minor League Baseball and the D-League do. Without the support of the NFL I doubt the league can withstand enough attention to survive past a year or two. But maybe if they show a little potential the NFL will step in and get involved. Or maybe they already are and I'm just ignorant..

I will say, the list of coaches alone seems to show that this league has a little life.. but I do agree that usually the opening game in these types of leagues draws the biggest attendance. 14k isn't bad, but if they can't sustain it it could easily get to paltry levels soon...especially with so little media hype or interest.
