Plax Gets Two Years

Plaxico Burress pleaded guilty and got 2 years in prison. At 31-years old, I dare say the man's career is probably over. Just don't really see anyone taking a chance on a 33-year old con, who's essentially been out of the league for three years. Sad too, because Plaxico has been unfairly treated by the media. First off, how many NFL players, with all their fancy cars, clothes, jewelry and cash don't carry guns? Is it right? Not necessarily, but let's be realistic. Plax wasn't wielding the gun at some nightclub or threatening to shoot someone. Nor did he misfire and hit someone else. The guy shot himself. He didn't kill anyone. He didn't think of killing anyone. He was carrying a gun...a lot of people do it everyday and never get caught. Sure it was stupid, but you would have thought the guy was assisting Osama Bin Laden the way the media jumped down his throat with the "holier than thou, shame on you" nonsense.

I for one will always respect Plax. For all the flack he took for being lazy, he was the best blocking WR I have ever seen in all my years of watching the Giants play. Any WR that is running down the field throwing blocks is OK with me, especially when he's a 6'5 star.

TO not playing in the first two games of the pre-season. Lucky you, Buffalo!

Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib was arrested. He had a pretty nice rookie season coming out of Kansas last year, but has a bit of a history supposedly.

Serena and Venus bought a share of the Dolphins. A lot of winning blood in the ownership there, can that team really repeat last season's surprising run though?

Walter Jones is going to have knee surgery. How does it feel to have your season over before it begins Seattle? Rain, rain, rain.

Tom Brady will be tossing it around a bit for all of you Buffalo fans with a secret man-crush on him.

Weekend Round-Up

For at least a little while fans got this Tom Watson.

Ultimately, however, this Tom Watson reared its ugly head.

Say what you want about what a great story Tom Watson and the British Open was this weekend. It bored me and everyone else to tears. Even the playoff was fittingly boring. Watson completely choked. His putt on 18 was laughable, he didn't even give himself a chance to win it. And Mike Tirico's, "Thank you Tom Watson, for making sure we will never forget this year's British Open" elicited a laugh out of me at least. Hilarious, this open was terrible and dry. It was like a tennis tournament with no Federer or Nadal. And was Phil Mickelson not somewhere cursing his wife? Really? Stewart Cink and Tom Watson? This would have been a perfect opportunity for lefty.

As the trade deadline approaches, nothing has yet to happen with Roy Halladay. It's somewhat hard to imagine him not either staying in Toronto or heading to Philly. Anyway, Halladay fresh off dominating the Bo Sox can't hurt his trade value. In the meantime, Felipe Lopez was traded from the Nats to the Brew Crew, who finally realized that Craig Counsell is a huge drop-off from Rickie Weeks.

We celebrated the 40th anniversary of us not going to the moon.

Oh and some no-name (ie, any cyclist not named Lance Armstrong) is leading the Tour de Who the Fuck Cares.
